Position Summary:
As a full-time, on-site position reporting directly to the Director of Operations or another designated individual, the Employee will work closely with Production, Purchasing, Inventory, and other internal teams to ensure tempered glass and window/door components are received, inspected, sorted, packaged, and shipped accurately and safely. The Employee must follow all safety procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and perform duties as required to meet the operational needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities :
Receiving:
- Receive incoming shipments and verify them against purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in quantity, documentation, and condition
- Inspect materials for damage or quality issues and escalate discrepancies when necessary.
- All defective materials that should be inspected by QC should be notified to receiving and need to send back or get credit.
- Ensuring to put all materials away in time such as Items received before noon must be stored at least one day.
Inventory & Storage Location Management:
- Establish and maintain standard storage locations for all parts, including an up-to-date storage map.
- Ensure all materials are stored in their designated locations with zero loss or misplacement.
- Organize and store non-direct materials (e.g., furniture, unused equipment) in assigned areas.
- Define and enforce overflow storage rules.
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance, including keeping main pathways clear of stored materials.
Material Movement to Production.
- Transfer required materials from storage to production areas in a timely manner.
- Periodically audit production storage areas and report any disorganization or improper storage to the Production Supervisor.
Housekeeping & Storage Maintenance:
- Ensure all racks and storage locations are clearly labeled.
- Maintain storage areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
- Responsible for ensuring any unsafe loading on storage racks.
- Make sure forklift and Raymond reporting damaged racking and filed in daily records.
- Any changes are reported to management and updated in daily checklist.
Cycle Counts:
- Perform cycle counts according to schedules established by Purchasing and Finance.
- Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
Inventory Monitoring & Alerts:
- Notify Purchasing when inventory levels fall below established minimums.
- Communicate with Production regarding material availability.
- Escalate shortages to Purchasing when required materials are unavailable.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in materials handling, or inventory control preferred.
- Basic computer skills (ERP or inventory systems experience is an asset).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, tools, noise, and moving equipment.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and handling of materials.
- Must be able to safely lift and move materials in accordance with company guidelines.
